It looks like our new products will debut the first week of September . Many new soaps are still curing, cupcakes are being made too. And we know how much everyone loves our bubblebath cupcakes!

So current TAT (turn around time) is approximately 5 business days. We should be back to our 2-4 business day turn around by Monday.

Be sure to check our sale page, many items are being clearanced out to make room for new products coming in. Get them while they last, there aren't too many left and once they are gone, they are gone and will not be coming back. And they are 50% off!

The holidays are quickly approaching, have you thought about what to give your loved ones? Or better yet, what to get yourself? Plan ahead, below is our holiday schedule.

October:

Closed beginning October 1st, 2011. All orders placed until Friday September 30th will be shipped out prior to closure. All orders made after the 30th will be processed upon our return Monday October 17th.

November:

Closed beginning Thursday November 24th, 2011 in observance of Thanksgiving. All orders placed until Monday November 21st will be shipped our prior to closure. All orders made after the 23rd will be processed upon our return Monday November 28th, 2011.

December:

Closed beginning December 19th, 2011 in observance of Christmas and New Years. All orders received by Monday December 12th, 2011 will be shipped out prior to closure. No orders will be accepted after this date or during this closure time. We will reopen Monday January 6th, 2011.

Fall Line Up

We are getting ready to debut our Fall products. So exciting!!

It's been a very exciting summer working on new scents. It's actually my favorite part next to making soaps, cupcakes, you name it. A few favorites are returning as well.

You will be seeing products disappear such as the summer scents and the Lush dupes to make room for our new Fall and Halloween scented products. Only a select few best sellers will stick around year long such as our handmade soaps in Oatmeal, Milk & Honey, Cranberry orange, Cranberry Yuzu, Granny Smith Apple, Lemon Curd, Paradise, Peppermint Cocoa, Red Apple, Vanilla Bean, Amber Sunset and Clementine Lavender.

Bubblebath cupcakes will remain the same but with a couple holiday themed ones coming into the mix. New photos will also be premiering for existing bubblebath cupcakes with new looks.

New fall themed lip balms will be coming too as well as tarts!!

New bath bombs and bubble bars are making their debut as well as new whipped sugar scrubs.

We expect to have all our newest products up on the site before the month is over.

Wow, it's been awhile since we've updated out blog. Our sincerest apologies. Soap Silly has been super busy processing your orders and working on new products for Summer 2011.

All orders are up to date and have been shipped as of May 9th. Current turn around time is now 1-2 business days for all in stock ready to ship items such as lip balms and soaps and 3-4 business days for all other items such as bath bombs and bubblebath cupcakes.

New products are being launched May 31st! New product photos are coming in as well.

New Products New Photos

You may be seeing a few changes coming, the site itself will remain the same, but new photos are coming of our products. And new cupcakes too!

There will also be many new products coming, scents, etc so check back often. We expect to have our Spring line completed within the next few weeks. Our Summer line will make it's debut mid next month as well. I'm sure many people are ready for Spring or even Summer with all the snow the Northeast and Midwest has been getting. We even had a snow day ourselves last month and it was quite exciting too. Not something we see here very often anyways.

Valentine cupcakes are up and as well as some wonderful Valentine themed whipped sugar scrubs.

We just wanted to update and let everyone know that we are working as diligently as possible to get all orders out as soon as possible. We are looking to have all orders from November out by mid next week.

Last day to order for holiday gifts is December 11th. All orders will go out no later then December 17th.

We will be closed for the holiday season December 18th and reopen January 10th 2011.

New scents coming:

Trick or Treat:
The time kids love most, aside from Christmas and get their sugar rushes on. The go door to door yelling trick or treat, sometimes with a trick waiting for them, but always ending with a treat.

Golden pumpkin, juicy persimmons and red apples; currants, blood orange and cinnamon; sprinkled with with sugar cane and vanilla.

Black Apple:
Apples have been sacred to witches and have been used in spells and rituals since ancient times.

Red and green apples, with golden caramel, cocoa absolute, autumnal spices and black vanilla.

Golden Pumpkin:
Native Americans dried strips of pumpkin and wove them into mats. They also roasted long strips of pumpkin on the open fire and ate them. The origin of pumpkin pie occurred when the colonists sliced off the pumpkin top, removed the seeds, and filled the insides with milk, spices and honey. The pumpkin was then baked in hot ashes.

A blend of ghost white pumpkin and golden pumpkin puree, butterscotch candies, and 3 different ambers.

Pumpkin Milk:
Coconut milk blended with pumpkin puree, autumnal spices, black amber and cocoa absolute.

Haunting:
An unforgettable, yet hauntingly beautiful melodic blend of blood orange, bourbon vanilla and dark patchouli, followed with black amber, sandalwood and cashmere.

Twilight:
The time when the night seeps into the dark forest, glowing amber skies darkened by musky clouds leaving an eerie aura.

Glowing amber, Redwood forest, White musky clouds, Moss and Dark Patchouli.

Reopening Date!

It's been quite some time, but our facility is nearly completed and I have recovered wonderfully. We are looking to reopen sometime next month finally.

I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this time.

Many new scents are being added and some are being retired. We have many new exciting things to come.

As many know (and I'm sure many do not) I recently gave birth. Due to an extremely difficult birth and recovery, I had extended the closure of Soap Silly to allow some time for me to fully recover and spend time with my family.

In the midst of this, a new facility is being built so that we can have an adequate work space once Soap Silly reopens. Because of this, the closure is being extended until Fall 2010.

I know this has been an inconvenience for many, but in order to provide exceptional service and quality products, this was necessary.

At this time we cannot fulfill any orders as existing stock was depleted before the closure. All equipment is currently being stored and is not accessible at this time.

Someone was kind enough to send me an email to a company in the Philippines that stole Soap Silly's logo and slightly, I mean slightly, altered it for their company use. I have friends and family that are Filipino and are in the Philippines that are looking into this for me right now, lucky me!

I've decided to call them out on it.

Closure extended

Just an update to let you know we are still closed and will reopen sometime in the Spring. Due to a difficult recovery health wise I have decided to extend the closure to allow myself to fully recover.

Closed for the Holidays

Although Soap Silly is currently closed, ALL orders received by Friday December 18th are shipping out by Monday December 21st, 2009.

Any orders that are received during our closure dates will be processed when we reopen in February. We apologize for any inconvenience. Also please note, as of December 2009, we will no longer will be accepting wholesale orders until further notice.

We will finally be caught up with orders by this weekend. We are so excited as we know this was one long holiday for us all.

For all the orders that were delayed we have included a special gift with every order as our way of saying sorry.

Also, we are considering once again not using USPS. We have noticed that many orders that went out before Christmas via Priority Mail are just now arriving at your door steps or are still in transit. Stamps.com sends us daily notifications on the packages transit status. We're not happy with the fact that the packages shipped via USPS Priority Mail have been taking longer than 2-3 days.

So we're looking once again to going strictly with FedEx. Of course, there will still be a flat rate fee for shipping for you all, the same $8.50 we offer now. Not only that, guaranteed tracking and insurance are automatically included with FedEx.

Once all orders have been completed, we will let you all know here on the blog and via email. By then we will be back to our 1-3 business day turn around time.

Long Holiday

It seemed like Christmas was never going to get here.

We had a longer than expected turn around time through the holiday this year. Our supplier for our bubbling ingredient was out of stock and had not notified us until 10 days later after the order was placed and numerous contacts with them. Unfortunately for us this caused a delay in getting orders out in time.

Although we did find another supplier, this delayed us because our products are made fresh and not sitting on shelves for months on end waiting to be sold. Even with 10 employees on hand and I myself working many sleepless nights.

Our limited edition Christmas themed bubblebath cupcakes will be available until the 31st. Once January 2009 rolls around (in just a couple days here) we'll have a few more new limited edition cupcakes to offer. You may have already noticed two have been added, such as our Happy New Year bubblebath cupcake (available until January 31st) and scented with champagne fragrance and our Be My Valentine bubblebath cupcake available until February 14th, scented with raspberry sorbet and cotton candy.

All holiday themed scents will no longer be available after January 1st. So get them while you can. Many new scents will be added. Remember, nearly 98% of Soap Silly's scents are Soap Silly™ exclusives!

We will be having a sale in honor of all our wonderful customers next month. If you haven't joined our newsletter, be sure to as we'll be sending out the sale notice through our newsletter. Watch your email!

We are no longer accepting Paypal as a form of payment. With the ailing economy and the increase in fees across the board in credit cards and such, we decided the one form of payment rarely used by our customers was the one we were no longer going to accept, and that of course was Paypal. This will help keep the costs of our products down for you.

You may have also noticed that beginning in January 2009, USPS will be increasing their fees for shipping. Our flat rate of $8.50 will remain the same. As for International orders, at this time it will remain at $38.95. We will still be utilizing FedEx as that is our first choice for shipping and most reliable for domestic orders.

Please note we will be closed from December 31st and will reopen on January 5th, 2009.

Shipping of Orders

Just a quick note to let everyone know that all orders received by midnight tonight will ship out by tomorrow, guaranteed to arrive in time for Christmas! That includes all orders that are currently pending.

Although Soap Silly is running on a 5-7 business day turn around time (and possibly longer on larger orders), Soap Silly will be back to 1-3 day TAT by December 15th. We are working as quickly as possible to get all orders out in plenty of time to make it before the holiday.

Soap Silly at Sunday In The Valley Charity Event

This weekend was an exciting event for Soap Silly.

On Sunday October 26th, 2008, we were proudly part of a charity event that involved the Las Vegas SPCA. Having spent my summers growing up out there with my grandparents, Vegas is my home away from home. As well as a deep love for animals and having quite a few pets of my own. So I felt compelled to take part in this event.

Sunday in the Valley

Sunday in the Valley is a invitation only shopping experience and charity event that was sponsored by 944 magazine and Sephora. This was such an exciting event as $10,000 was raised through the Silent Auction (in which Soap Silly gladly donated a beautiful gift basket retailing $125.00).

Thank you to the Palms Casino, The Maloof Brothers, Bree Cohen and Judy DeLano for this wonderful opportunity at such a gorgeous and fun hotel!

We stayed at the gorgeous and fairly new hotel, the Palms Place. Recently built and opened in May 2007. We were immediately upgraded upon check in from studios to one bedroom gorgeous suites. We couldn't believe how beautiful our suites were. I took plenty of photos so I'll share those when I get a chance to upload everything.

Everyone at the Palms was great, courteous, friendly. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. We can't wait to go back and we'll definitely be staying there from now on, whether it be for personal or business!

All in all, it was a wonderful experience for a wonderful cause and we were thrilled to be a part of it.

Everything is perfectly fine here. The fires are 50% contained. I can't even see the smoke anymore which is a good thing.

Also, we have some new products that were recently added...again. :-)

New Limited Edition Winter Perfumes are now available. These are exclusive blends by Soap Silly and you will not find them anywhere else.

They include:

Sweet Escape™- A pink sugary sweet treat; the ultimate Sweet Escape. This tooth achingly blend begins with tops notes of cotton candy, cupcakes topped with pink buttercream frosting, while being introduced to middle notes of caramel, Italian bergamot, fresh berries and plum and touched by notes of fig leaves, anise and white musk.

Arctic Breeze™- A bit fruity with a hint of coolness for that winter-y fresh feel. Included are top notes of green leaf, peach and soft violets; added by middle notes of white peony tea with a fresh ozone breeze and touched with snow kissed mountains.

Our hair care products are about to make their debut. We've just been waiting for the final touches, such as labels. Always fun!

SoCal Fires

We received a few emails inquiring if the fires are anywhere near us. Yes they are, but we are just fine where we are at the present time. The planes are flying right over us dropping water on the mountains adjacent to us. But from what I've been gathering from the news, with the winds blowing from the north we should be safe unless there is a shift in the winds, as the fires are just southwest of us.

There is another fire burning near Lake View Terrace, that's farther southeast from us, about 20 minutes from us, but we are in absolutely no danger of that one.

It seems it's routine for us to have fires every October for the last 5 years. Hopefully the winds will calm down and give the fires a chance to burn out and no one gets hurt or lose their homes.

SOAP vs "the others bars"

Recently commercials have been surfacing in regards to soap leaving scum behind on not just your showers but you're skin also.

We'd like to oppose the information provided.

In our opinions, we feel these companies are feeling the heat from the handmade industry. This is good for us because it actually creates more business since people want to see what all the hoopla is about and find out for themselves.

First off here are our ingredients:

Olive Oil
Coconut Oil
Palm Oil
Palm Kernel Oil
Cocoa Butter
Shea Butter
Castor Oil
Rice Bran Oil
Sunflower Oil
Avocado Oil

These are ingredients we use in each and every bar of soap we make, most soaps we make contain 7 of these ingredients with the exception of our super creamy soap which contains just Olive, Shea Butter, Palm Kernel and Castor oils.

We also from time to time add the following ingredients:

Goats Milk (local)
Coconut Milk
Oatmeal
Honey (locally harvested)

And from time we time we add other fresh ingredients such as cucumber and avocado.

We also use essential oils and fragrance oils, as well as soaps that contain neither for those with sensitive skin.

What you are feeling being left behind on your skin is not scum, but is from the saponified oils in the soap and the natural glycerin leaving a moisture barrier on your skin as well as cleansing the skin.

Handmade soaps retain the natural gylcerin that is created in the soapmaking process. Unlike other companies that make claims of adding lotions, our soaps contain natural ingredients that are natural moisturizers. Leaving your skin, clean and moisturized without the drying effect that these other bars leave behind.

They actually extract the glycerin produced.

Here is a listing of their ingredients:

sodium cocoyl isethionate,
stearic acid,
coconut acid,
sodium tallowate,
sodium isethionate,
water,
sodium stearate,
cocamidopropyl betaine,
sodium cocate or sodium palm kernelate,
fragrance,
sodium chloride,
tetrasodium EDTA,
tetrasodium etidronate,
BHT and titanium dioxide

Other bars ingredients

Have you ever noticed how your skin feels after using one of the other bars? I myself can attest to the difference in these and handmade and I much prefer handmade. And this isn't coming because we make them. When I first stumbled upon handmade soaps I did not make them. I bought from other reputable companies for about a year and loved them. Until one day I wanted to make them myself. My hobby became my business.

Also there has been some information released over the internet in the last year or so about these other bars that manufacturer unscented or sensitive skin bars. Apparently in a written letter from one of these companies, they now use a masking fragrance in the bars. We do not use any masking ingredients in any of our unscented soaps. All of our handmade unscented soaps naturally produce a scent that is from the oils used or the milks used. We do not misrepresent anything we sell. All ingredients are always listed on our site and on our labels.

So, that's our response to the claims being made.

We are crazazy for fall here at Soap Silly and have been busily creating new fall favorites just for you!

We've had some requests for custom scented products and we've been listening.

We would love to offer this feature to you, we are still working out the kinks on how it will be done without the dreaded long TAT (turn around time). As it is, all orders have been shipping within a great TAT of 3-5 business days. We are seriously considering that the option for custom blends be available once a week so that we can still maintain a great TAT. Shipping

I have been receiving quite a few emails in regards to our shopping cart not configuring international shipping charges. We are still working on trying to get a better more efficient shopping cart for you. Unfortunately, at this time, all international based orders have to be figured either after the order is placed or you can drop us a line with your shipping info. Most orders fit into a flat USPS Priority Mail box. So shipping can vary greatly upon destination. We've had shipping charges range from $25-45. Just to give you an idea. I'd love to offer a flat rate service to you, but at this time, it's nearly impossible to do with the fluctuating rates. but feel free to email us at anytime you wish if you have any questions as to what shipping may be to your location!

Shipping is still a flat rate of $8.50 per order. With the ever increasing prices of oil, we are still maintaining our low shipping rate just for you and will continue to do so for as long as possible.

Soap Silly is happy to announce we will be launching our first hair care line next week!

Kaeli~Curl™ is a line of hair care products specifically formulated for those with curly, sometimes unmanageable hair. You're probably wondering where the name Kaeli~Curl™ came from.

Kaeli~Curl™ was inspired by my youngest daughter Kaeli, who is 5 years old. She has the most gorgeous, thick curly hair that on most days was a pain to even brush. She was actually born with thick curly hair. And on the ultrasound days before she was born you could see an aura around her head. Even the ultrasound tech couldn't believe what she was seeing. She had never seen hair like that before on the screen.

Kaeli and I always fought over brushing her hair. But once we formulated this line of hair care products, she brushes her own hair now (well, only when Mommy lets her ):-).

Our second line of hair care products was inspired by my son Johnny.

Johnair™ hair care products were formulated specifically for boys. Johnair™ hair care products were formulated for boys with easy to maintain and short hair just like Johnny (my 7 year old) himself. If you know a guy or boy with lovely locks, Kaeli~Curl™ is also for boys/men.

And last but not least, for the girl who straightens her hair, whether it be thick or thin (I have thin hair while my oldest daughter has thick hair) we have created BellaJo~Go~Straight™ hair care products.

Both Isabella (my 14 year old) and I like to straighten our hair. Me for the ease and simplicity of it, while Isabella thinks her gorgeous wavy hair is too thick and wants the straight look.

So there you have it. Be on the look out. Our hair care line will cover from Shampoos and Conditioners to leave in treatments and anti frizz creams.

I am happy to announce we will reopen beginning September 2nd to full time status.

Our business hours will be as followed:

Monday - Friday 9am to 4pm, Closed Saturdays and Sundays and all national holidays. We will also be closed Monday October 27th as we will be at out first show of the season in Las Vegas!

Opening Notice

The time off to recover has been nice. I saw my dr last week and he says I should be back to normal in about 4 months. Honestly, I was disappointed. He told me before the surgery it would take about 2 months for the type of procedure I had. I think he told me that because he didn't want me changing my mind about having the surgery to begin with.

Anyhow, I can't believe I am approaching 6 weeks since my shoulder surgery. It feels like I just had it considering I'm still in pain.

I have received many emails as to when we would reopen. We are reopening, but it won't be full time. We will be open every other Tuesday and Wednesday for the month of August until further notice.

These are the dates we will be open:

August 5th, 6th
August 19th, 20th

This way I can still get the rest I need for a full recovery, all orders can be processed and shipped with a quicker turn around time and you can get your yummy Soap Silly fix!

Also, new products will soon be launched for our Fall 2008 collection that will include shampoo, conditioner and hair serums. You will be among the first to receive news on when these will be available.

Didn't get very far

OK, so we didn't get as far as I had liked to with the applie pie making, but we did get to peel and core the apples (ok, hubby did). I decided to freeze my pie filling so that I can make apple pie for the holidays from our very own apple tree.

I jumped on the scale and realized I have lost 5lbs. WOW! That right there made me think the pie can wait! I'm on a roll here. It must be all these fresh fruits and veggies, because the only exercise I've been getting is walking to the garden and back. I've been waiting for the day I can go back on the eliptical machine. Since I can't really put much weight on my arm yet, I've not been exercising other than the things my physical therapist has given me to do.

It might also be that since my surgery, I've kind of lost my appetite. Hey, but it's ok, along with eating healthier, I'm losing the 10lbs I've gained since my accident. This is great news!!

This leads to the pictures I'm suppose to share with you of my garden. I took some, but since it was in the evening, they weren't as great. So I'll have to take them in the morning, for better lighting.

I have received many emails in the last few days as to when I'll be reopening.

Here's an update on my recovery first, I am doing well. Although I am still in pain, it's a bit more tolerable. I am only taking ibuprofen at night before I go to bed so I can at least sleep at night. I tried to go off of them for a few days and by day 3 I was in bad pain again. I couldn't sleep well and was a walking zombie. I can lift a 2lb weight without pain which is great. I'm still going 3 times a week and I'm glad. Even though I need to take time to let myself recover, I want to get better fast. I'm tired of being in pain. I feel emotionally and physically drained.

So now, back to when we will reopen...I've decided that I will reopen in August, part time.

The dates we will be open are as followed:

August 5th and 6th
August 19th and 20th

This way I can still get the rest I need for a full recovery, all orders can be processed and shipped with a quicker turn around time on all in stock items and you can get your yummy Soap Silly fix!

The Fruits of Labor

I have been receiving some very kind emails from customers wanting to know how I'm doing.

First off, my staples came out last week and all looked great. I am healing well. I can now raise my arm to shoulder level with some tolerable pain. I cannot lift anything, maybe a cup of water. But that's it before it hurts and my arm begins to shake.

I have been going to physical therapy now 3 times a week and it has made a huge impact on my recovery. My dr says he's never seen anyone recover so well and quickly for someone who had such bad bone spurs. The good thing is I didn't need rotator repair after all and I am able to heal quicker and not in as much pain as we thought I'd be in. Although I was in a great deal of pain and this was by far the worst surgery I have ever had, I would say it was worse than giving birth to my kids, in which 2 of them were with no drugs. I think that says enough.

I'm still in pain and a couple ibuprofens help me in dealing with it now. I'm not the type that likes to take pills, so when the dr prescribed me with Vicodin, I nearly had a heart attack. Luckily I only took them for the first 5 days, which was longer than I cared for.

During this time off I have been enjoying our garden we planted back in May. We have gone organic and planted a wide variety of vegetables and fruits.

My zucchini plants have taken off and I have so much zucchini we've been eating it like crazy. I've even passed on some to the neighbors that were so excited to receive them. One of them asked for more and I was happy to give it away.

Yesterday we grilled some sliced zucchini. We brushed on some extra virgin olive oil on the grill, sprinkled each slice with sea salt and black pepper. They came out great, the kids loved them.

Today I am making zucchini bread. My daughter grated the zucchini for me yesterday so I am ready to go.

I also blanched and froze chopped zucchini so we can enjoy them in soup during the winter months, yum!

We have corn growing as well, radishes, chives, different varieties of pumpkins, giant watermelon, cilantro, many different varieties of tomatoes, tomatillos, cucumbers, jalapenos, green beans, peas, sunflowers, spinach, carrots, strawberries and I'm sure there's more, I just can't remember. They are all coming in so nicely. We also have a beautiful pomegranate tree with pomegranates growing, lemon, lime, orange, guava, peach, and fuji apples. I have so many apples today will be a very busy day for us here.

My husband will be coring and slicing the apples so we can make apple pie. My daughter will be making the crust. We plan on making about 5 pies out of the apples. I plan on freezing all but one for the holidays. With the rest of the apples the kids are already eating them. I'm looking into some other recipes to make out of them.

I love my guava tree. It reminds me of the many times we've been to Hawaii and Maui, went down for our morning breakfast and I always had a nice glass of fresh guava juice.

I love going out to the garden in the evening when the weather has cooled down and the sun sets behind the hills. The kids come out with me and we enjoy picking the fruits of our labor.

As far as going organic, it's quite a chore. I've seen squash beetles under my zucchini plants and try to kill them any chance I get. I see lots of ladybugs though. Weeds are such a problem. I leave that one to the hubby. He's out there now pulling them...;-)

One of the other things I have enjoyed so much about gardening is that I am feeding my family with healthy (I had previously said healing, I must've been daydreaming of getting better! LOL) fruits and vegetables that we have grown ourselves. We know exactly where they came from with no pesticides, or other chemicals what so ever. And I am saving money during this hard economic time. I have cut my grocery bill down by about 50%.

I will take some photos and post them here for everyone to view later today or tomorrow.

Temporary Closure Notice

Many of my customers may recall I was in a car accident back in September of last year. I have been in physical therapy since then. I started off doing chiro, but it didn't help, I've been getting PT since then.

PT has helped my neck, but not my shoulder. As time went by, the pain got worse. Some days I can't work, type, drive and most nights I can't sleep. It's just become unbearable. I couldn't figure out why I could be in so much pain. So my dr ordered an MRI and I went.

I'm not going to lie, I was scared once I started to go into the machine. It was an open MRI, supposedly....

As he rolled me into it, I yelled wait and flared my arms. The tech stopped the machine and asked if I was ok. I said to him I thought this was an OPEN MRI. He said it is, look to your left and look to your right, their open. Um, that's not open when the machine is about 3 inches away from your face I told him. I really felt a surge of panic creep in. I didn't think I could do it. I began to tell the tech I don't think I could do this. He said yes you can. Your strong, I know you are. Just close your eyes. So I did AND I turned my head to the left so that as I was breathing I didn't feel like something was on my face crashing down on me.

Next thing I heard was a series of annoying noises, loud, jerking type noises. I fought to keep my eyes closed. You know that feeling of I have to open my eyes and see what's going on. My eyes began to twitch. But I held strong. I knew if I opened them I'd begin to panic.

I thought I have to get my mind off of these noises, so I began to count. Yep, count.

I counted to 60 over and over and over again. About 30 minutes later the noises stopped. By this time I was actually beginning to dose off.

And they moved me out. The tech came in and said "see, that wasn't so bad was it?'. It actually wasn't.

So 2 weeks later I get my results back and they say I have a torn rotator cuff and severe inflammation. I need surgery. I went home and pondered about it for 3 days, before deciding I would go ahead with it. I searched online and asked my dr more info and it's the only thing that will help with the pain.

The surgery involves an outpatient procedure in which he makes a 2" incision into my shoulder, they scrape off the bone spurs and then take a look to see how bad it is. From there they determine if I need to have my muscles stitched back to the bone or screwed.

Recovery takes about two months.

But don't worry, dr says I can drive, type (left handed since I'm a righty) and do other little things after about a week.

I have decided to close up for 2-4 weeks to allow myself to recover fully. Back in October I had an emergency appendectomy, the day after I came home I went right back to work and I regret it to this day.

Either I or my daughter (since shes now out of school!) will post on my behalf here and through my newsletters about my progress and when we will reopen. It will definitely be sometime in July as we will also have some very exciting news to share this summer with you all.

In the meantime, I will not be accepting any new or existing wholesale orders until after we reopen.

My surgery is scheduled for June 27th. We should be back open by July 21st. Again, this will all depend on how quickly I am recovering.

I look forward to living a pain free life once again.

Which brings me to a little rant. Some know and some do not, the guy that hit me that lovely Friday morning, did NOT have insurance nor a drivers license. Has not responded to repeat notices from my attorney and apparently is getting away without having to take responsibility for his actions. BTW, I was the second person he hit within a month. So here I have to suffer physically, emotionally and in every other way possible for someone that is irresponsible.

Make sure you have uninsured motorist coverage, this has saved me financially in heaps. I wish it could have saved me from bodily injury as well.

With that note, I am off to bed to nurse my shoulder with a nice hot heating pad. I am counting down the days until I can finally recover from all of this.

These guys are awesome! They look and sing just like U2. The lead singer "Bono" aka Jason sings and looks eerily like Bono himself. The band plays great. I couldn't get enough of it.

Wow, the holidays are just around the corner and it's been one crazy year here at Soap Silly.

Well, in September I was in a car accident. I was hit by an unlicensed, uninsured motorist in front of my son's school right after I dropped him off. Thank goodness no one else was in the car but me. Sad Day

We wanted to let everyone know that from today until Tuesday we will be closed.

My great aunt passed away last night.

We will reopen on Tuesday after the holiday.

Services will be this weekend. Since my family is out of state, I need to leave tonight.

All orders up until today, will be shipped out today. Kristine and Pamela will process and ship out the orders today.

Old Site vs New Site

I also wanted to take this time to address a few concerns regarding the old site vs the new site.

As discussed previously, we switched over to a new shopping cart, which is a php site.

The old site (html) is still up and will be for awhile. This is for a couple of reasons. Google, Yahoo and other search engines need time to pick up our "new" site, these are called robots. In the meantime, as to not lose our "places" in google, yahoo, etc, the site is still up until these search engines pick up the newer site and get us back into "place". This can take anywhere from 3-6 months if not longer. So we will be keeping that site up for awhile.

We are making a few updates to the old site as to not confuse anyone when they arrive.

You can still order from that version of our site as well. Items have not changed and some are still being moved over to the newer version of our site.

We appreciate your patience during this transition and hope you understand.

Quick Update!

I just wanted to let everyone know that we had an increase in orders in the last 2 weeks which slowed us down by about 10-14 business days.

We are back up to date on orders and they are back to shipping within 2-3 business days!

There's been a couple emails on some orders not arriving yet. Please feel free to email us on the status of your order. All packages have delivery confirmation and insurance on them so if a package gets lost, we can have USPS trace it or if we need to, we can file a claim for a lost package.

Most orders are still shipping via USPS Priority Mail. Last week there was an increase in the price of shipping. Eventually we will be shipping exclusively through FedEx. We hope to make this transition by the summer.

Changes at Soap Silly Bath & Body

Happy Wednesday!

Wait? It is Wednesday, right? haha

Some of you may have noticed some changes taking place at Soap Silly.

We are slowly, yet surely changing over our site. The changes were due in part by our new shopping cart. Unfortunately, the shopping cart did not support the older version of the Soap Silly site, so we've had to make some changes.

We are testing out some backgrounds so don't worry if you see blue swirlies one day and then something else the next! :-)

You can still see the older version and we are doing our best in keeping up with the newer items on the older site until the transition is complete.

But don't worry, we hope to have it completed by the end of the month!

We are also updating the images on our site to reflect better and more appealing product images.

We really appreciate your patience during this "remodel", so to speak.

So why did we change the shopping cart you ask?

Well, the newer cart will reflect better and more accurate shipping charges. At the moment it shows a flat rate of $9.50. (You may think, eek, why so much? Well, we typically ship flat rate USPS which is $8.10 then we include insurance, thus so much). But...since USPS is increasing their rates again next week, we need to add a better shipping system. We have been testing the waters with FedEx and so far have been very pleased.

So, once the site is complete, you will see better shipping charges that will accurately reflect the items in your cart. So shipping will be based on weight and shipping zones.

The shipping rates may not be added until this summer though. So please bare with us.

Also, if you are thinking of placing a small order, such as lip balms, please, feel free to email your order or call us and we will manually adjust shipping for you to reflect the smaller order.

Another reason we upgraded the shopping cart was because of the features it offered. Such as wholesale. Now our wholesale clients will be able to log into their account assigned to them. No more placing orders via phone, email or fax! It can all be done online now.

Also, our blog will be changing pretty quickly here too.

Along with a few other nifty features, we really look forward to the new look, features and with providing you with a better experience overall at Soap Silly.

We are in the holiday spirit!

This past weekend I spent my holiday time working and then taking about 4 hours out to do some holiday shopping in the madness. That's right, I ventured out into that mad realm of buyers.

It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I've never been up early enough to do my holiday shopping before. I kind of liked it. Why you ask? Am I mad?? Well..I actually got up before the sun came out and as I drove home with my trunk full of goodies for my family and friends, I actually got to see the sun come up and it was so beautiful.

Sometimes we forget to take a moment out of our busy schedules to just stop and enjoy the moment. I did just that.

It got me thinking...with all the madness in this world, why can't we just take one day a week, one moment a day, to just stop and smell the roses, to look at our children and think to ourselves, this moment I will never forget?

So I have made a deal with myself. Once a day I am going to stop in the middle of whatever it is I am doing, take that moment, look around and take it all in.

Today I did that. I stopped in the iddle of fullfilling an order. I thought I cannot believe how much my business has grown since I first started it nearly 4 years ago.

It's almost like watching your children grow. It's starts off so smal, so delicate, completely relying on you.

As it grows, you see how beautiful it's blossomed, how far it's come along, how much it's grown.

Last month I was contacted by another magazine. And guess what??!! Our cupcakes will be featured in the Feb issue of working Mother magazine.

This is so exciting for us.

My husband in beyond belief. My children are so excited. And of course, our Soap Silly family is just as excited.

Welcome to our blog. I'm Johanna and I am the owner of Soap Silly Bath & Body. I am a mother of 3. And am happily married.

I first started in this business about 4 years ago. I started out making small things for just myself, friends and family.

Just like many, it got to be a big hobby and my husband suggested I sell my products.

And it went from there.

I am also attending college locally, taking one class a semester so that I can dedicate my time to my family and my businesses.

I am often referred to as supermom by many. What can I say, I like keeping busy.

I am very pleased with where my companies are at and I hope they will continue to grow.
